Certified Compostable

The resins used to produce Naturesplast~ are certified. Compostability of the resin was tested by a third-party laboratory and confirmed by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), which granted to our supplier its seal of compostability. Compostability is defined through a testing process described in detail by two ASTM Specifications: ASTM 6400 D99 and ASTM 6868. ASTM International (it originally stood for American Society for Testing and Materials) is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world ? a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services. Our resins also meet European Bioplastics standards (EN 13432) for compostability. The products made from the resin will bio-degrade in under 180 days depending on thickness; if the product is 2mm or less; when placed in an industrial compost facility. Thicker products will take longer to breakdown. Composting is a natural process that allows greenhouse gas emissions carbon dioxide to sequestrate in soil instead of being released into the atmosphere.
